We support architects, engineers, contractors, and businesses with printing, document management, and project support services that keep work moving. Whether it’s plan printing, scanning, or ongoing coordination, our goal is to make the process straightforward and dependable.
Part of Applied Engineering
Applied Engineering was founded in Fargo, North Dakota and has grown into an employee-owned company serving customers across multiple industries and locations.
Our Print & Image services are an extension of that same mindset. We bring the same level of precision, accountability, and responsiveness to document services as the broader company brings to engineering and manufacturing teams.
Our History
Applied Engineering Print & Image has grown alongside the needs of our customers. What started as supporting internal and local project work has expanded into a full set of printing and document services for architects, engineers, contractors, and businesses.
Printing and reprographics services began around 1990 as both an internal support function and a service for local architecture and engineering firms.
As projects became more complex and timelines more demanding, our services evolved to include plan printing, scanning, archiving, and full project support.
In the early years, Applied Engineering invested in specialized equipment that allowed large format drawings to be rescaled and reproduced for a variety of customer formats, something that was unique in the Fargo-Moorhead area at the time.
Today, we continue to build on that foundation by focusing on accuracy, responsiveness, and long-term relationships.
From Blueprint Machines to Digital Printing
Printing technology has changed significantly over the years, and Applied Engineering Print & Image has evolved alongside it.
Before digital printing became standard, large format reproduction relied on the Diazo blue-line process, where original translucent drawings were exposed to ultraviolet light and developed using ammonia-based systems. Complete plan sets had to be manually reproduced sheet by sheet.
Archiving also looked very different. Early document preservation involved photographing drawings onto 35mm microfilm using specialized flatbed camera systems before digital scanning became the standard.
Today, those processes have evolved into modern digital printing, scanning, and document management workflows designed for speed, accuracy, and long-term accessibility.

Over the years, Applied Engineering Print & Image has supported a wide range of local and regional projects, including the Fargodome, the Microsoft building, the Fargo Theatre remodel, the Drekker Brewing building, and numerous schools and churches throughout the region.

We’re based in Fargo and serve teams across the surrounding region, including Moorhead, Grand Forks, Wahpeton, and nearby communities.
Many of our clients have worked with us for years. They rely on us not just for individual jobs, but as a consistent partner across projects.
That comes from being responsive, dependable, and easy to work with over time.
Local courier delivery is available throughout the Fargo-Moorhead area, and shipping is available nationwide through UPS, FedEx, USPS, and Fleet Street for local distribution needs.
